What are cowboy chaps used for?

Motorcycle Leather Pants

History of leather chaps goes back to the Old West of Americas. The majority was of cowboys and their cultural dress included hat, and cowboy chaps as a compulsory part. In Mexico and Portugal, that culture still exists on the countrysides of these regions.

Chaps are coverings of leather or similar material for the lower body. Cowboy chaps consist of a pair of leggings and a belt. Horse riders wear them to protect their legs from any abrasions in case of a crash or drag as horse riding can involve considerable risk. Nowadays, bikers used chaps too, for the same reasons cowboys did, for protection from abrasions and cuts.
